INDICATIONS

  • Complete bladder support
  • Synergistic blend of powerful bladder supporting ingredients

MECHANISM OF ACTION

Since the formula is a blend of various healthy ingredients, all components have their own role to play. Sitosterol from pumpkin seed and pumpkin seed oil, is presumed to be the active molecule. Pumpkin seeds are also high in minerals like magnesium. Pumpkin seed extract is known to selectively inhibit replication of faster growing cells (including cancer cells) while excluding normal cells. It is useful in BPH significantly increasing bladder volume, decreased urination frequency and increased urination delay index. (Hata et al. 2005) Arginine present in the extract also relaxes the bladder and decreases in-bladder pressure via arginine/NO pathway. (Andersson and Wein 2004). Rehmannia glutinosa leaves contain total glycoside (DHY) which may restore dysfunctional intestinal flora to normal and regulate glycolipid level. It also regulates TGF-β/Smad signalling pathway to improve early kidney damage caused by diabetes. Wild yam root is antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory, it can help relax the tension on the bladder muscles and prevent unwanted spasms that contribute to dribbled urine. Veterinarians often promote wild yam for aging female dogs with urinary incontinence. Soy protein substituted for animal protein results in less hyperfiltration and glomerular hypertension with proposed mechanisms ranging from improved lipid metabolism, ACE inhibitory activity, blood pressure reduction, reduced renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate, inhibition of inflammation and antioxidant effects that may be from its components viz. specific peptides, amino acids, and isoflavones. The antioxidant properties of soy isoflavones also may contribute to renoprotective effects. Tyrosine kinase inhibition, PUFA effects (polyunsaturated fatty acids) which may mediate important changes in inflammatory and cell proliferative pathways in liver and kidney, decreased IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1) and improved PGE-2 production to reverse abnormal reductions in production of prostaglandin and decreased 6-keto PGF-1α production have also been suggested as possible mechanisms of action. Soy protein is a rich source of the amino acid L-arginine and the higher intake of this amino acid has been suggested as an important protective component. Saw palmetto extract (SPE), an extract from the ripe berries of the American dwarf palm, widely used in Europe as a therapeutic remedy for urinary dysfunction due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Numerous mechanisms of action have been proposed for SPE, including the inhibition of 5α-reductase. SPE at clinically relevant doses may exert a direct effect on the pharmacological receptors in the lower urinary tract, thereby improving urinary dysfunction in patients with BPH and an overactive bladder. Vitamin C from fruits and vegetables is associated with decreased urinary urgency. For a UTI to occur, bacteria must adhere to and invade the lining of the bladder. Cranberries contain A-type proanthocyanidins (PACs), which interfere with the bacteria’s ability to the bladder wall, reducing the likelihood of infection.
