MECHANISM OF ACTION
E-zyme exhibits anticolitic activity through its components.
Essential oil of fennel regulates the motility of smooth muscles of the intestine, while, at the same time, reducing intestinal gas. It serves as the treatment of spastic gastrointestinal disturbances (in some forms of chronic colitis (which resist other treatments), in dyspepsia from gastrointestinal atony, in dyspepsias with the sensation of heaviness in the stomach, and so forth) prescribed alone, or in combination with other plant medicinals. Its addition to preparations containing anthraquinonic components reduces the occurrence of abdominal pain often associated with this type of laxative. The aqueous extract of F. vulgare also shows remarkable antiulcerogenic effect and mucosal protective against ethanol-induced gastric lesions reducing gastric damage significantly.
Ginger shows antiemetic properties acting peripherally within the gastrointestinal tract by increasing the gastric tone and motility due to anticholinenergic and antiserotonergic actions. It is also reported to increase gastric emptying.
