MECHANISM OF ACTION
L-Carnitine is a conditionally essential amino acid synthesized (25%) in the liver and kidney from precursors like lysine methionine, niacin, Vitamin B6 vitamin C and iron. The remaining 75% of daily L-carnitine requirement is obtained from dietary source like red meat. Cereals, grasses and vegetables are very low in L-carnitine. It is essential in the process of transporting fats into cells for energy (ATP) production, or more specifically, carnitine is required for transporting long chain fatty acids and their derivatives into the mitochondria of cells. The mitochondria are the tiny little powerhouses present in each cell that convert fatty acids into the ultimate chemical energy source of the body, known as ATP. Mitochondria are abundant in the cells of all organs that have a large energy requirement, including semen and the heart, epididymis, kidney, skeletal muscle and liver. Carnitine is also believed to have other important roles, such as preventing the toxic accumulation of acetyl CoA compounds, these compounds are trapped as carnitine esters and transported from the muscle to the liver for processing, and to the kidney for excretion. I would definitely recommend this product if you have a dog who frequently gets diarrhoea. My veterinarian used to sell it to me, but it was very expensive. It was located on Pawxie. The packaging is excellent. Arrives on time and costs less than my veterinarian. This item is something I would suggest for your furry friend.
