ATAXIN should be dosed at the rate: 5mg/kg body weight i.e., one 150 mg tablet per 30 kg to be administered once daily or as a divided dose twice a day for 3-10 days with or without food.
Working Mechanism
Enrofloxacin, the active ingredient of ATAXIN, belongs to the family of fluroquinolones which are bactericidal in nature. They interact with two intercellular enzymes- DNA gyrase (DNA topoisomerase II) and DNA topoisomerase IV- which are essential for bacterial DNA transcription, synthesis and replication. Presumedly, fluroquinolones actively bind with DNA enzyme complexes thereby inhibiting the processes which are essential to catalyse DNA supercoiling and chromosomal decatenation. Their intervention eventually causes DNA fragmentation and bacterial cell death.

My dog has an intense wound, and my friend recommended these pain reliever medications. The pain was gone in 10-20 minutes, and the greatest part is that this medication is chewable for dogs.
