USES OF CARODYL 100MG TABLET

  • Control of pain in dogs associated with pre- and post-orthopaedic surgery and trauma
  • Relief of Joint pain and inflammation in osteoarthritis
  • Pain relief in Musculo-skeletal disorders

Working Mechanism

The mechanism of action of carprofen is like that of other NSAIDs. It is associated with the inhibition on cyclooxygenase activity by specifically being selective for COX-2. The inducible cyclooxygenase, COX-2, generates prostaglandins involved in inflammation. Out of the two cyclooxygenases associated with mammals, associated Inhibition of COX-1 is thought to be associated with gastrointestinal and renal toxicity while inhibition of COX-2 provides anti-inflammatory activity. Carprofen has also been shown to inhibit the release of COX-2.
