Staphban ointment is a veterinary specific antimicrobial prescribed for control and treatment of zoonotic infections. It is convenient and easy to apply. It has less adverse effects as compared to oral and systemic therapy and has better compliance with respect to oral cephalexin. Its antimicrobial effect is observable as early as 48 hours after initiation of treatment. It is special since it shows no cross resistance unlike Clindamycin, Erthromycin and Lincomycin. It is even effective against MRS (Methicilin Resistant Staph Sp) where other antibiotics show resistance.

Uses of Staphban

  • Topical treatment of canine bacterial infections of the skin
  • Treatment and control superficial pyoderma caused by Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus intermedius.

Working Mechanism

Mupirocin is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits the growth of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis by reversibly and specifically binding to bacterial isoleucyl transfer-RNA synthetase. Due to this mode of action, mupirocin shows no cross resistance with chloramphenicol, erythromycin, gentamicin, lincomycin, neomycin, novobiocin, penicillin, streptomycin, and tetracycline.

I gave my dog these pills because she threw up everything she ate, was extremely lethargic, and couldn’t sleep or do anything else because she was in pain. She even howled in a crying manner. I would like to sincerely urge you not to purchase this item.
